Segers Accounting processes your personal data because you use our services and/or because you provide this data to us yourself. Below is an overview of the personal data we process:

Special and/or Sensitive Personal Data We Process

Segers Accounting processes the following special and/or sensitive personal data:

  • Citizen Service Number (BSN)

  • Data of individuals under the age of 16, which is necessary for tax returns or the tax returns of the relevant fiscally involved parties, such as parents.

Purpose and Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data

Segers Accounting processes your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To contact you by phone or email if necessary to perform our services

  • To inform you about changes to our services and products

  • Segers Accounting also processes personal data if we are legally obligated to do so, such as data necessary for tax returns, bookkeeping, financial statements, and the preparation and submission of annual accounts, as well as publication documents.

How Long We Retain Personal Data

Segers Accounting does not retain your personal data longer than necessary to achieve the purposes for which your data is collected. We apply the following retention periods for the following categories:

  • ​Personal Data retained for 7 years- legal retention obligation

  • Processed Accounts for 7 years- legal retention obligation

  • Tax Data for 7 years- legal retention obligation

If the client explicitly wishes to comply with the retention obligation themselves and requests to transfer the data, this is possible. However, the client must be fully aware that they are responsible for the retention obligation towards the tax authorities.

Sharing Personal Data with Third Parties

Segers Accounting shares your personal data with various third parties if necessary for the execution of the agreement and to comply with any legal obligation. We conclude data processing agreements with companies that process your data on our behalf to ensure the same level of security and confidentiality of your data. Segers Accounting remains responsible for these processing activities.

Additionally, Segers Accounting may share your personal data with other third parties, but only with your explicit consent.

You can submit a request for access, correction, deletion, data transfer, withdrawal of consent, or objection to the processing of your personal data via info@segersaccounting.com. To ensure that the request is made by you, we ask that you include a copy of your ID with the request. In this copy, please black out your passport photo, MRZ (machine-readable zone), passport number, and Citizen Service Number (BSN) for privacy protection. We will respond to your request as soon as possible, but within four weeks.

How We Secure Personal Data

Segers Accounting takes the protection of your data seriously and implements appropriate measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorised access, unwanted disclosure, and unauthorised modification.

We also request that you send your data through your personal digital mailbox or upload it via our secure software. This ensures that your data is stored in a secure environment in the right place.
